It definitely does since that's my main setup.

I can't think of any reason why it'd fail uniquely on MySQL4/FreeBSD
assuming everything else is sane.  You might find something useful in
your httpd-error.log that'll help us out, but if I'm just making wild
guesses I'd assume you have a problem with a PHP extension.
