Please verify if http://www.achievo.org/bug/103 is the same issue you
are experiencing (except the fact that it says 1-1-1970 instead of
31-12-1996, it sounds similar).

Possible workarounds and other discussion on the issue can be found in
the bug entry. Feel free to append any new information.
