The status functionality is a simple one: in the "Setup" menu you can
describe project status, and in the "General" tab of the "Modify Project"
main page you have a dropdown list where you can specify the status for that
project.

Tested (on different machines) on: IE5.5, IE6, NS 4.73 e NS7. Works fine
only in NS7.
