I don't think theres enough developer traffic to warrant it either. I
think most users of achievo would be technical enough to benefit from any
'developer' discussion present on the list. Nor have I seen much in depth
developer discussion of the type that plain users would not want to see.

As someone who has lurked on this list without posting anything for almost
2 years now, a forum would be a disadvantage. I'd never go there to check
for new postings, I'd never hear about new features, other peoples
problems that I may or have run into, etc. I admit I probably don't read
90% of the traffic, but it takes me a split second to scan the subject
line and decide I want to read it, or delete it. That way I'm always kept
up to date with achievo in the degree I want to be and I can easily ask
for help, without having to remember or track down that URL for the
achievo forum.
