I was in doubt whether to cover languages in part 1 of the guide or in part 2, but I decided to put it in part 2, as there are some things you must pay attention to.

For example, if you have a module x, with a node class y, and a field z, you can put any of these in your language file:

$txt_z = "Field Z";
$txt_y_z = "Field Z";

or $txt_x_y_z = "Field Z";

Where the latter is usually safest since you won't override any strings in other modules.
